Title:  Madhouse
Description:  SP 4-8-4 4449 ran over BN's Steven's Pass line in early 1989 in order to participate in a week-long Washington state event at Wenatchee. Weather was northwest dark; which didn't stop hundreds of railfans and others from chasing the train up US2. This was the scene at Skykomish as the Northern took water and before a BN SD40-2 was added for the trip through Cascade Tunnel.

Description:  To kick off the festivities celebrating Los Angeles Union Passenger Terminals 50th Anniversary, two big Northerns (Southern Pacific 4449 and Union Pacific 8444) rounded the curve by Terminal Tower to arrive at the station. The two 4-8-4s would remain on display throughout the weekend, as would cab unit diesels from the three railroads (Santa Fe, Southern Pacific and Union Pacific) that called on LAUPT prior to the formation of Amtrak.
